Spreader Plates

Spreader plates are manufactured from Aluminium and grooved to accomodate underfloor heating pipes. The highly conductive aluminium spreads the heat from the UFH pipe to produce an even temperature output over the whole floor. You can use double grooves when the system is used in conjunction with a boiler or triple grooves when using a heat pump.

Spreader plates are primarily designed to fit between joists with the pipe resting on the underside of floorboards. It is important to consider the final floor finish to ensure that it won’t impede heat transfer from the spreader plates

Sometimes, it is difficult to retro-fit spreader plates between joists especially if an existing floor cannot be taken up. In these circumstances, you may be able to fit the system from the room below in which case we would recommend under joist fixing method.
